The last six months at LUX Construction have been very busy, not only on various building projects but also behind the scenes. So we thought it would be good to explain these changes in this news post.
Changes, Changes, Changes…… lets explain
Change One, Name Change ……
LUX Construction Group LLP is a new name for an established company.
Formerly named Northants Carpentry LLP, the company was setup in 2007 with a focus on providing carpentry services to the local area of Northamptonshire. Over the years we began to branch out to offer a wider range of construction services. Soon we were no longer just a carpentry company, offering more services; we’d grown significantly in size and our projects becoming further afield. It soon became apparent that the name was no longer relevant and was becoming quite restrictive.
Over the years when meeting new clients and business associates, we would often be met with the same responses. ‘I didn’t know you offered those services; I thought you were just carpenters’ or ‘We thought you wouldn’t be interested as the job wasn’t in Northamptonshire’.
Because of this we decided to change the name to Lux Construction. This new name not only brings the business in line with its sister company LUX Developments, but it’s also more relevant to the type of work we do, and no longer holds us back geographically.
Change Two, New Partners ……
Along with the name change comes three new partners into the business. Iain Milne, Mauro Cipriani & Dan Chamberlain bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Iain Milne – As is the case with all members of the LUX Construction team, Iain has a passion for preserving, protecting and enhancing beautiful buildings. Iain started his career in construction as a Stone Mason and spent his early career working on many historic properties. Over the years Iain moved into Contract Management, enabling him to fulfil his desire to ensure the preservation of heritage buildings for future generations.
Regular clients Iain has worked with over the years include; English Heritage, Natural England, The National Trust, The Church Conservation Trust and members of The Historic Houses Association.
Iain’s major projects have included the extensive restoration of Easton Neston House, Calverton Manor, Osmaston Sawmill, Keddleston Hall, Barton Hall and many more prestigious buildings along the way.
With a special interest in church restoration Iain has managed many conservation and restoration projects over the years including: St Matthews Church in Northampton, St Marys Church in Trumpington and St Faiths Church in Hexton. Currently Iain has live projects at Christ Church in Cambridge, The Church of St Nicholas at Hinxworth and St Mary the Virgin at Meppershall.
Mauro Cipriani – Mauro has over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry. He started work with a Quantity Surveying Practice, attending college for 4 years, achieving a BTEC National and Higher National Certificate in Building Studies. He then worked for a number of Building Contractors in Estimating and Quantity Surveying Roles.
Mauro has worked on a wide range of projects across a variety of sectors, Defence, Education, Health, Residential, Conservation and Restoration, (including Listed Buildings, Churches and Museums).
Mauro has been fortunate to be involved with some notable projects, in a preconstruction and construction role. Strawberry Hill House, Audley End House, Fitzwilliam Museum Cambridge, Finchingfield Guildhall, Little Gillions at Rickmansworth, Waddesdon Manor, Tetworth Hall, Toddington Manor, Neville Holt Opera Louse, Rotunda Ickworth House, Youngsbury Manor, Leicester Cathedral Revealed, to name but a few.
Mauro’s measured and considered approach results in a consistently high level of attention to detail through the tender bid and beyond.
Daniel Chamberlain – Dan started his career in construction as a apprentice carpenter, in fact Northants Carpentry’s very fist carpentry apprentice back in 2009. After several years working for Northants Carpentry, Dan worked his way up to become a foreman and one of the most trusted members of the team.
In 2017, he took a career break to travel the world, working as a carpenter in Australia, furthering his skills whilst supporting his travels. On his return in 2018, Dan setup LUX Developments (Northampton) Ltd with Chris Thurlow & Andy Penny with a focus upon the local residential market. LUX Developments continues to go from strength to strength as it builds a solid reputation for quality building services. It is from here that we drew the connection of the two companies and brought the names in line with one another.
Change Three, Branching Out ……
With the new partners joining the company and the changing of our name we are now firmly in the position to increase our capacity and build upon our solid foundations.
Covering a wide area and a larger capacity we are looking forward to the coming years as we build our company, here’s to the next 15 years ……
